I think the ideal woman is one who combines everything and can do everything - which is what I'd like to be, and often what I already see. But hmm... I feel like women will be shuttered behind these stereotypes for quite some time - though we have been making our way out and there are quite a lot of prime examples of woman who've succeeded in the eyes of society... there will always be setbacks, but to look at things optimistically, they've definitely been better. Though true, better will never be as good as best.
a dramatic, instantaneous change in the role of females would throw off society. change is a slow progress. it takes time. imagine if one day we woke up and suddenly the roles of females were changed. how many males would go crazy? all of a sudden they were expected to do all these things they were never once expected to do. it would only lead to more problems.
each stereotype must be dealt with one by one. for example, nowadays, not every women cook, knit, or work part-time jobs. see we're getting closer to knocking off all those stereotypes from your list.
but, we're slowly moving closer to "equality." it may take a few more decade but we'll eventually get there.
* be the change you want to see. but i think you already knew that. ^__^
In response to you last 3 posts:
well to start with, I think comparing males and females is not always correct. The reason of that is that this world needs from each of them. They both contribute with a different essence to this world.
In response to the public recognition men vs women, one can see from historical point of view that it has not been long since women were allowed to do more things. So it is really going to take some time for that phenomena to become more of a 50/50. In my opinion women are rapidly getting up where to they have always deserve to be.
Regarding to the difference in expressing feelings, I first have to say that it is erroneous to say that all men and women are the same. Second of all, the reason for those various discrepancies in men's and women's behavior can be better explained biologically. However, I think that the problem with both of the sexes is that they set up determinism to what they should ought to be. That is they assign an essence to their existence when the fundamental human condition is the opposite. Again I think that if the general public thought more about of their circumstances and realize that change can happen in which ever way each one of them wants. It only takes initiative and consistency. Oh but what about feelings? I am going to twist a quote by Plato and say that "[feelings] are natural and inevitable" and in the same way was circumstances you can let your feelings control you or you can control your feelings. Of course there are some that are harder to keep down. At this point I don't want to seem inhuman, but like Buddha said just let go and everything will be fine. Anyway there is a lot of ways to asses this aspect of human nature, and I am using... you know what ha haha
